Bright is arguably the autumn capital of Australia. For a few weeks each year the town’s European trees turn gold, orange and crimson, and visitors come from everywhere to see it.

• The Bright Autumn Festival runs across April–May, culminating in Gala Day.
• Streets, parks and the riverbanks light up with colour.
• Best viewing is around the town centre, the river and the avenues.

Autumn is our busiest season. If you want a cabin or site during the festival weeks, book well in advance.

Local tip: Colour peaks vary year to year with the weather, late April into May is usually the sweet spot.
