At 1,922 m, Mount Feathertop is Victoria's second-highest peak and arguably its most beautiful, a knife-edge summit reached by a ridgewalk that drops away on both sides. The classic approach is the Razorback Track from Diamantina Hut (off the Great Alpine Road near Hotham), an 22 km return walk with around 600 m of elevation gain.
Suitable for fit, experienced walkers, exposure to weather is significant on the ridge and there's no shelter for the final 5 km. Carry full alpine kit even in summer. The view from the summit is one of the best in the country.
For a shorter taste, walk in from Diamantina Hut to High Knob (2 hours return).
